We thought you’d like to know a little of our background, who we are and how we got here two businesses working together.

So.... Hi I'm Jane and I'm relatively new to this lovely flowery world but not to the world of art and creativity.

In my younger years during the 90's and early 2000's I trained and worked as a professional dancer for the Hong Kong Ballet and Northern Ballet Theatre touring extensively throughout Asia, America, Canada and Britain.

In 2002 I hung up my point shoes and spent a wonderful summer in London at the Royal Academy of Dance graduating with the professional dancers teaching diploma and off I went to Australia to see and experience the sights of down under teaching along the way!! I spent the following years teaching for various schools, colleges and dance companies and was involved in the coaching of the boys for the original west end Billy Elliot musical!

2007 brought along the first of my baby girls making galavanting around the country not an option anymore so since then Northern Ballet has been my home with sporadic workshops and guest teaching elsewhere.

Anyways I'm thinking you'll be wanting to know how I came here to The Gathered Garden!

Well with the arrival of my 3rd little girl we moved to a place with a garden and I found I rather enjoyed getting my hands dirty and in 2014 I read an article that inspired me about three women setting up a British cut flower company in Cornwall called The Garden Gate Flower Company

Well aware I couldn't do it on their scale I did think I could do it locally and so the journey began!

After many ups and downs, the meeting of the lovely Rachel of Owl House Flowers and a name change, I arrived here still teaching but enjoying growing and playing with flowers the rest of the time.

I love it, the whole process of seed to flower to the creation of something beautiful (oh and flowers don't answer you back or give you attitude!) They are the perfect antidote to life's little challenges.

And that is me Mummy to three beautiful little girls, ballet teacher for Northern Ballet and British flower growing florist!!

Hi, I'm Rachel. I live in Bingley with my husband John and son Jack. I am a ‘Yorkshire Tea’ drinker, Strictly Come Dancing (the UK version) watcher, armchair birdwatcher, painter, curtain maker, keen but amateur photographer, pinterest addict (business and personal), a dancer like nobodies watching and a great writer of lists.

I have always loved flowers and gardening, and I have had many floristry books on my shelves but I was inspired to be a British flower grower/florist by Jen and Bek of Blooming Green back in 2011. They appeared on a TV programme called My Dream Farm with Monty Don and I instantly loved the idea.

After a career as a Microbiologist for Don Whitley Scientific Ltd in Shipley and becoming a mother I made the decision to combine my love of flowers and being creative and started my own business Owl House Flowers in 2014.

And that would be us Jane and Rachel British flower growing florists!

Thank you for visiting us :)
