Hello!

Hello and welcome to The Gathered Garden

The web page has been up and running for a little while now thanks to the combined efforts of my brother and Rachel of Owl House Flowers - I’m pretty hopeless when it comes to computers and technical stuff! But as I’ve avoided the computer for as long as possible failing to enter a blog post and I’m now procrastinating and trying to avoid the housework at all costs I thought what better time to start!!

Not really sure how or where to start though so I thought I’d fill you in on some of my favourite flowery adventures this year.

Hmmm… It’s a tricky one lets see, well this was a pretty cool moment when one of my weddings got featured on Festival Brides UK in June

I did the flowers for Shelly and Tom’s lovely woodland wedding back in August 2017 - I was known then as The Flower Fields as I grew my flowers in a field until circumstances changed and I joined Rachel on her plot.

It was a wonderful colourful affair, bold and bright was Shelley’s request, I loved doing them and her lovely bold flower crown and loved it even more when they got shown off again 10 months down the line :)

End of June I led my first hand tied bouquet workshop which was then quickly followed by a private hen party flower crown workshop both of which I throughly enjoyed, it was just so lovely being in a space filled with flowers and happy people

Then there was the lovely Faye and Dan’s wedding all sage greens and whites, Faye wanted garlands galore and I do love doing a garland :)

August was a pretty full on wedding month - happy days!

I really enjoyed helping Rachel with a couple of her Owl House Flowers weddings and Susanne with her Beamsley Blooms wedding, they all involved installations one of my favourite things to do - there was more garlanding to be done, an archway, ivy pillars and a fabulous floral chandelier.

But one of my favourite times in August was doing the flowers for an East meets West wedding and being surrounded by beautiful women in the most gorgeous colourful saree’s.

And then there was this weekends wedding…..

…..Well my instructions were “all the flowers and all the colours!” you can’t go wrong with that, such a joy to do, it also involved garlanding and flower crowns oh and a trip down to the big smoke!! Yes my lovely friends Hannah and Nathan asked me to do their flowers for their London wedding held at Battersea Arts Centre. I was so excited although not quite sure how I was gong to fit “all the flowers and all the colours”, two milk churns, 9 metres of Ivy garland oh and three children in the car - but then I do like a challenge!!! And it was well worth it even if it did take me 6 hours to get there, I couldn’t have been happier when I saw Hannah’s face as she saw her bouquet - yep it was definitely worth it :)

So that was a brief summary of this years highlights although there’s been lots more lovely flowery moments in between!

Next it’s the exciting “C” word - yay Christmas is on it’s way but not before halloween and bonfire night ;) I’m going to enjoy watching the seasons change and I do love autumn and all it’s beautiful colours. Keep an eye out for up coming workshops they usually involve a glass of fizz too!!

Thanks for visiting me, will try not to leave it so long next time!!!

See you soon

Jane
